"I will be back," I said to the
children clustered around me, their sticky hands clinging to mine. The
words lacked any true intention until their desperate tears wiped the
fake smile off of my face. I could see the longing and screaming in
their eyes. "Will you....really?" I was one more adult
they were trying to believe in.
After this visit to a state orphanage in 1997, I was
determined to keep my word and even more, to be an advocate for
abandoned children in Romania. Over the years God fueled compassion,
until passion burns in me! God has given me such a clear vision of what
the future will be, I can close my eyes. . . I see it...I hear it and
smell it. As part of that vision, I established Crown Child Placement to
be the legal means of accomplishing my promise to God and to those
children. I believe the destiny of those Romanian orphans will change
when we focus on long term solutions: help them integrate in society,
replace institutional care and prevent abandonment.
